3·2 months agoOf the 2 million most used sites in the EU not even 10% pass the lowest bar of the GDPR. Thing is, that when the problem is this wide spread, the courts don’t want to open the floodgates when they start to percecute all those websites.

2·5 months agoOhh boy, I don’t know how much you read beforhand, but the new characters are the best content of the game. They range from infuriatingly hard to trivial, but all of them have a fresh spin in the gameplay and existing mechanics. You are in for a treat my friend.

16·6 months agoTo bei honest, I highly favour oral exams. This semester I had to chose between a 20 page termpaper or a 20 minute oral exam, which was a no-brainer to me. Writing a termpaper clashes with my ADHD. I have to keep tabs on like 15 books and the according notes and work on the project virtually uninterrupted for ~1 month without any kind of feedback until I hand it in? Thats a nightmare… Oral exams on the other hand are awesome. I can read like 2 books in the matter in around a week (because I don’t need to take notes) for preparation and can just geek out with my professor about the topic. I think I just favour the conversation style of the exam, when my prof reacts to my answer I can infer if it was right or if I should come back to it. I don’t think your opinion is wrong or something, but different flavours of neurodivergency have different needs. I really like that more offen than not I can choose the category of my exam :)
The German community has the “Heil Hortler”, which are swastikas that are hilariously badly drawn, but I don’t think it’s on Lemmy yet.

This only works when you divide the time spent working over the year. As a medival peasant you worked your ass off in spring or whenever you sow your fields, kept it up while it grew, which was somewhat normal working times by todays standard, and toiled for double digit hours in harvesting season again. After that was time to do literally nothing. When you look at seasonal holidays in many european countries, they are mostly at the end of harvesting seasons, when you could easily be blackout drunk for a week because there was nothing else to be done. I personally don’t mind regular working hours when the alternative is half a year of 15 hour shifts and half a year of more or less no work.
4·2 years agoI don’t get why bots have to be part of the argument. People being stupid or having a backwards political agenda is a valid and sufficient explanation when talking about the right. We tend to forget that Lemmy is more like the backrooms of the internet than a politically relevant platform and dedicating bots or paid trolls for such a small community seems a little exaggerated to me. Fringe parts of the internet are far easier to sway with a small group of obnoxious people than, say, Reddit.
21·2 years agoI’ve never read the books, although I’d really like to. I only know two things: Its fucking awesome and really, really long and convoluted. Someone told me that getting into it is hard, but there is nothing quite like it and its worth it. I watched the series while drinking beer and hanging out with my father. We both like fantasy, needed something to binge and I heard of the source material. We thought the series (only seen the first season) was pretty cool. Knowing the infamy of the books it was clear that they had to cut vast parts of the books, but for someone uninitiated it was a fun watch. At the same time I already thought it had to be unbearable for fans of the book for the same reason.
New wave esoteric is dangerous and cringe
Das Problem ist nicht, dass sie “einfach so da stehen… bedrohlich”, sondern aufgrund eines sich mir nicht erschließenden Entscheidungsfindungsprozesses innerhalb von 0,8 Nanosekunden dazu entscheiden, wie ein Porsche von 0 auf 100 zu beschleunigen um den Raum zu krümmen und durch mein Schlafzimmer zu pesen. Oder halt nicht. Das ist der Horror, das inhärente “nicht wissen”.
