  • What did that actually do? It didn’t just destroy A Baoa Qu; it will have consequences. But what?

It looks like it’s a black hole gun- Nyaan opened a hole in spacetime and gravity + the energy released did it’s thing? It wasn’t clear if there were other effects tho, I dunno if half of A Baoa Qu got teleported to another universe or what.

The introduction of seasonal Anime around 2007 had terrible consequences in the world of anime.

As always, the problem comes back to capitalism. deeper-sadness

  • That animatic sequence with Challia is either a Gunbuster reference (wouldn’t be the first in this series), a cost-cutting measure for some crazy stuff coming up in the last two episodes, or (most likely) both.

All of the above + Eva reference lol

    Nyaan and the Gyans

Best band name lol. Hottest act this side of Side 6!

    Zeta Gundam

Knowing Khara they’ve given our leads Chekov’s guns just for them to subvert expectations and have them not go off. Instead Nyaan will turn into a car or something. (Enokido did write Utena after all)

  • Right, like everyone confused about Machu/Shuji kinda need to see this ep for the exact kind of Newtype weirdness we’re working with (although imo the scene with Challia this ep really did a lot to flesh out Machu and Shuji’s relationship through inference, like imagine living most of your life with your parent not understanding your emotional wants or needs and then suddenly finding the one cute guy in the universe who could literally read your mind), but at the same time I think it’s completely reasonable to expect a show to stand on it’s own and explain weirdness like that as part of the story and not off-screen that storytelling duty to past franchise entries. It kinda is what it is at this point tho shrug-outta-hecks

Also, she’s probably had to watch G-Savior a few dozen times.

    A fate worse than death.

    spoiler

Anno backdoor writing in a prequel/sequel to 0079/CCA on a multiversal technicality wasn’t on my bingo card, but I’ll take it since Tsurumaki seems to have something class conscious in mind to say, and I trust Khara enough to handle postmodern metatext right even after the Rebuilds. I can’t believe how blatantly they’re getting away with cribbing The Man in the High Castle tho lol

    Beyond the Time

No shot that they don’t use it as an insert song in the finale

  • The Zeta score playing was the best kind of fanservice

I feel like we’re moving towards a classic Tomino style conflict with a bunch of factions ricocheting off each other.

Challia inheriting Char’s will is probably the best part of the show, and the MC’s getting split between the different Zeon factions too just to drive home the toxic yuri (Shuji’s probably on earth lol)

Braw Bro with a little dude that pops out

the little dude is the ki ke roga! (edit: oh man the word filter)

It also looks like we’re going back to the alternate UC 0079 next episode. Seems like elements of CCA are being brought in like with Gundam X’s alternate UC.

Yeah next ep looks like they’ll go over the remaining flashback stuff from the movie that didn’t make ep 2 due to time, although I do wonder what else they’ll put into the episode since that footage was only about 15 more mins of runtime.

  • Is it just weird bonding from the psychic space high they get while doing space murder?

It’s this, and the director kinda compressing a lot of legacy franchise tropes together into one character. The girls are kinda projecting a lot onto him (Freedom for Machu and Security/Companionship for Nyaan) whereas bro’s more interested in tagging and his haunted gundam- that said, I’m not sure it’s thaaaaaat unrealistic for teenage girls to develop love triangle drama from what amounts to their first crush.

I expected him to get fridged to drive the plot forward but him literally peacing out is way funnier
