It’s mobile games. It has always been mobile games.

A large part of the population is simply unwilling to treat games as a medium that requires quick reactions, precision and thinking. To them, gaming more like spinning slots in a casino. Until about 2012, these people didn’t realize such games existed on consoles or the PC, so we were safe. Eventually mobile app stores tapped into this massive market, got enormous returns and made everyone else realize how many people were willing to engage with a glorified skinner box.

Every fiscally responsible company now has to assess the degree of implementing these dogshit gameplay loops, instead of just not doing that like they used to.

The only AAA games safe from this are the ones that are extremely hard (complex) as a baseline. Stuff like Path Of Exile and Elden Ring.

  • Yeah. Out of all the reasons to improve your health on this planet, trying to outrun death is the dumbest.

One of my university professors looked under 60, everybody was asking me how old I thought she was. Her real age when I last saw her - 72. Died one year later.

Meanwhile both my grandmothers are approaching 90 despite looking like shit and having tons of health problems for decades at this point.

  • Ever since the 40 series, you need to downgrade every card by 1 tier to get the actual product. Nvidia marketing gimmick.

    RTX 4060 - RTX 4050

    RTX 4060 Ti - RTX 4050 Ti

    RTX 4070 - RTX 4060

RTX 4070 Super - higher clock speed RTX 4060

    RTX 4070 Ti - RTX 4060 TI

    RTX 4070 Ti Super - RTX 4070

    RTX 4080 - RTX 4070 TI

    RTX 4080 Super - RTX 4080

RTX 40?? - RTX 4080 TI. There definitely should have been a GPU in this bracket judging by transistor counts. Would eat into the insane 4090 margin though so it wasn’t meant to be.

RTX 4090 is of course appropriately named.

In case you want to be pissed off, the reason why iPhone mini didn’t sell is because when someone is conditioned to buy an iPhone, it is more profitable for sellers to literally lie about not having the cheapest option. More people will choose to buy an expensive phone, offsetting buyers who walk out because the mini isn’t being sold. Monopolies suck, and people who support them also suck.
