On what do you base the “do nothing” comment?
On what do you base the “do nothing” comment?
How do you define “woke”?
"Catcher in the Rye” is an amazing book!
Well, that’s kind of the point. Poilievre changes his narrative with the tides. Old article, new article. He keeps changing his mind. “Woke Ideologies” Good. Women’s rights, good. Women’s Rights: Bad. Education: Good. Education: Bad. Minimum wage: Good. Minimum wage: bad. His narrative is for votes. Just votes. He doesn’t really have a plan.
Nordic countries got it right. Free education, educated populace. It’s kind of like the hippie commune idea irl.
“woke” = empathy. The Nordic countries got it right. Free education. Their population is well educated. They understand that happiness does not mean wealth.
Is our sovereignty woke? Is our maternity/paternity leave woke? Is our education system woke? Are Canadian people’s rights woke?
Thank you. I completely agree with you, and this study. I was trying to find a “dumbed down” version.
If I could go back in time, I would have done everything I could to emigrate to Norway. The more I read about that country, the more I like it.
I expected that. But, is there specific statistics? Numbers? Graph? Pie Chart?
Has anyone ever looked at the education level of population voting for different parties? (I don’t know how to query statistics in an educated way)
“Never admit you are wrong”. This has become pervasive in everyday life. The phrases: “I was wrong”, “I stand corrected”, “point taken”, “mea culpa” are rarely heard anymore. So many dig in with nothing to back their argument, use the “fake news” BS, and/or just really become angry. What happened to reasonable discourse? Well, I guess it went out the window with science. It went out the window with critical thinking. It went out the window when representatives of our countries seem to get away with telling outright lies with no consequences. When social media is allowed to spread outright lies with no consequences. What a fucking shit show.
1984 was required reading when I was in high school in Canada.
This is a direct result of the degradation of education. Countries that have a higher standard of living for ALL people: health (mental and physical), fair wages, maternity/paternity leave, etc., also have better education standards. In some cases, free university.
Lots of downvotes here, but I get this. As a woman in the 70s, (before social media), young people gathered at dances, night clubs, outdoor parties, indoor parties. We usually arrived with friends and felt safe engaging with other people. You might “click” with someone and spend a couple of hours conversing or dancing. It was face-to-face, up close and personal. I feel for men and women these days trying to meet on social media. When chatting via text you can’t hear voice inflections, you can’t see facial expressions. Sometimes emojis just don’t cut it. It’s definitely a new frontier.
I agree. “Land of the Fee, Home of the Slave” Excellent!!
Countries that have universal healthcare also have other benefits when you’re raising children. So it doesn’t stop at the “free to give birth”.
“Medicaid covers the people we love the most… our parents and our kids.” Not in Trump’s MAGA world.
"at boosting rideshare safety, including by requiring drivers to make audio and video recordings of trips” Why is this a bad thing? Isn’t it also for the safety of the driver? What am I missing?
I completely agree with everything you’ve said.
