In German, i.e. the language of the work and death camps, Deportation is different from Abschiebung (≈off-pushing). Deportation in German still is associated with the Nazi regime, while Abschiebung is being normalised successfully.

AFAIK, during and after the Second World War, the anglophone world learnt about the German crimes at least partially through a German language lense, so my guess is that the English word deportation was mingled with the meaning of the German word Deportation and the meaning of banning individuals from a place after due process.

I only had 36 week “hours” (à 45 mins) in the last years of high school (16-18 yo). All the time before, we always had under 30 week “hours”.

It doesn’t matter that much, of course it does, if and who is the asshole here, but if it was good parenting.

I don’t have children, but I’d argue that phones are not without risks and that Emma was quite young with being only 8. You might not have been able to guide Emma to safe and self-reliant media use at her age.

It’s probably also quite normal for pre-teen siblings to get jealous over attention, but I don’t know how to deal with this.
