Plagiarism is not pirating. Before copyright existed I doubt it would be socially acceptable to just steal people’s ideas as your own.
When I showed a pirated copy of Star Wars to my partner, I didn’t claim I made the movie.
Actually the concept changed a lot over time. A few centuries ago it was perfectly acceptable to take someone’s story and characters and retell it in your own way, but copying someone’s style was frowned upon.
I would consider that fanfiction in modern parlence and I see it as distinct from plagiarism and piracy as well. And morally okay, good even.

Intellectual property is indeed fake, but in a capitalist society it’s supposed to at least make living off your own creative work possible. Supporting that is completely different than supporting private property which is property owned and worked by other people for profit.
