Sorry we didn’t get a check-in last week, I got covid :(

Anyway, let’s check in with each other. What’s good, what’s bad, what’s ugly?

Talk about bipolar or anything else - this is a free for all!

Well, I’m unemployed, ended up back in detox last week for booze yet again, and one of my good friends said they don’t feel comfortable around me because I was manic last time we hung out and was “super intense, I thought you were on meth”.

But my football team won today so that’s cool I guess.

Stopping drinking was a game changer for helping my meds work right. Sooo there’s a plus on the horizon. ;)

I understand so much… I am losing connections because they don’t like when I’m upset. I’ve actually just accepted I’ve lost it all. I need to start somewhere new with people that posess empathy.

I tell someone that I am hurting because of xyz and they roll their eyes… can’t I just stop complaining that I’m hurting? I’m always complaining. Just stop complaining. Just get over it.

I’m in the in-between of accepting i am starting over alone and finding/getting to that starting place.

And the drinking I also connect with. I drown it out because no one listens so why feel the pain? And they point at my drinking as another reason why I’m so shitty

That sounds really rough, I’m sorry. It sucks when we get judged by friends for our illness. I hope things get better for you.

Much like the post says, I didn’t have a great week on account of having Covid, but the worst part was having to take care of other sick family members while being tired. I’m finally back to normal and looking forward to taking two weeks off after Christmas cause I need it!

Hey! I hope you’re feeling better by now and the family too. Have an excellent two weeks off now that (hopefully) you got the sickness out of the way! Still want to chat?

I’ve got the next two weeks off too and I need it. Time to focus on me a bit more.

I’m torn into pieces. Once piece is a neglected person never listened to. Another piece is a skilled educator that knows how to help that person. A part wants to keep what they have and sees a future with it. A part feels that the only way forward is to abandon everything and start new. A part is holding on to the hope of family helping them. A part understands that every time you go to them for help they twist it into anger at you.

“Stop complaining about the same thing over and over again.”

    “What things?”

“You always say I never listen to you. Just stop.”

About mental health, familiy never helps, I have some real close friends, and none of them have a family that does not worsened their mental health, this is sad, but I gave up my family helping me just to keep that bound with a past that I like.

I know you probably heard that a lot but therapy is the better place to try put your shit together mainly cause it is a person that does not know you trying to help. Family and friends will always see you by the lens of what they see and not actually you or what you say.

I agree therapy is great. I waited 6 weeks for my appointment just to have it canceled day-of and rescheduled another 6 weeks out.

I’m trying to talk with a therapist, but my healthcare system is…👎

Thats 3 months between appointments right now, assuming my next scheduled appointment isn’t also canceled.

That’s terrible! I hear stories like that often, where people try to get help and are met with great challenges and obstacles. All I can say is, keep trying. Good therapy is so worth it, but I will fully acknowledge it’s hard to find.

Based on what you wrote about parts in your original comment, I think you’d really like Internal Family Systems therapy. There is a great book on it called No Bad Parts by Dick Schwartz. I think you’d enjoy it.

Thanks for the recommendations. I’ll look into them :)

Some books I’ve read that helped me with my situations are: Emotional Neglect and the Adult in Therapy by Kathrin Stauffer I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

I’m Glad My Mom Died helped 2 of my clients come to terms with their own less-than-ideal mothers. It’s a great book. And I’ll have to check out the other one, thanks!

My date that I thought went well actually went poorly. I was able to snag some tickets to broadway as a Christmas present. So naturally I asked my theater loving date if she wanted to go and well she’s going to church instead. I’m not too beat up about it I heard she was being a dick to my 13 y/o niece because she gets more attention than her or something like that, not entirely sure on that part.

My doctor took me off my Seroquel and I’ve been getting some strange ass dreams/nightmares.

    Otherwise things have been alright!

Does anyone ever ask about you? How are you?

I’m sorry to hear about your date, but it also sounds like maybe you dodged a bullet? Also sorry I’m slow to respond, I’m still catching up on stuff after getting covid. I appreciate you asking how I’m doing! I’m good now, just waiting for the holidays to get here so I can take my 2-week break. Can’t complain!

I don’t see that I posted yet and shit got real this afternoon. One of my coworkers turned in her two weeks and the timing is impeccable because we are transitioning to a new computer system the same day. She’s been there 12 years and I’m sure I’ll be told to absorb a lot of her job. Yes it makes me more valuable but we aren’t allowed overtime and there only so much one can do in a day. I already absorbed half of my previous bosses job this summer and only in the last month have I not been at a frantic pace. I was literally starting to job hunt the last few weeks. Now this. UGH.

That sucks! It’s ridiculous how companies expect people to just absorb someone else’s work. I hope you are able to do some job hunting and find something you like!
