I wouldn’t exactly can medieval buildings ‘nice’. There’s usually a lot of compromises unless someone spent a fortune on renovating (and even then you’ll have stuff like doors that are too small).
The video is not about medieval buildings, it’s about point access blocks.

The vast majority of the world allows point access blocks, not just western Europe. They just used the picture from Europe as an example.
