I know Finklestein is persona non grata around here, but I thought his voice and expertise here is valuable. I genuinely thought him talking through his moral uncertainty about how to view the flood as the civilian death toll rose was really interesting, and about how rather than just choose a side he went to listen to historical arguments of similar scenarios like the Nat Turner or Warsaw Ghetto uprisings.
Norm’s still a problematic boomer but he remains a major resource and comrade with respect to Palestine.
Why do people dislike him here? Apart from the boomer shit that StalinwasaGryffindor mentioned, from his podcast appearances the only thing I’ve taken pause at was him being critical of BDS. But I’ve yet to hear what his alternative to BDS is and he otherwise seems sincere in his Palestine activism. I get Zionists hating him but outside of r/trueanon left spaces seem to be more sceptical than supportive of him.

Finkelstein has a couple boomer complaints about wokeness and cancel culture, but he’s still such an intelligent and passionate advocate for Palestine that I hope people will overlook it
