One time at a party we were standing around chatting and bad dates and such, and someone goes, “Yeah, don’t date republicans.”

One guy, a young white guy, goes, “Hey! What??”

Everyone turned to look at him and we were all like, “Go on, do you have something to say?”

So far as I know he’s not a maga-hat now, but has a big “rugged individualist” streak.

Everyone can be a rugged individualist if they all buy a new H2 Hummer and bedazzled jeans and skull print t-shirt.

        buy a new H2 Hummer

That’s going to be challenging, since they stopped making new ones in 2009.

But why? Isn’t the Venn diagram of people who would buy one of those and the people who would buy a cybertruck basically a circle? And I think the cybertruck is cheaper and is louder with its “I’m a huge turd” messaging. The Hummer is probably better made though…

I hate the Cybertruck and Elon, but I actually really like the Hummer Truck. It has little nods to the first ever electric vehicle GM produced in it, the moon rover. I also find it funny to take the overly macho Hummer and make it electric. Basically I’m saying I think it has some fun character that a lot of vehicles just don’t have anymore.

I drove an EV Hummer back in the 90s, when I was 4 years old. It was about three feet long, two feet wide, and a foot and a half tall. Maxed out at about 1mph, but it could get up to speed in under a second! Battery lasted about a quarter mile. But those were the glory days, eh? Simpler times. Morpheus was right about that, that’s for sure…

I drive a lot for work. I see Cyber trucks pretty regularly, a few each week. I think I’ve only ever seen one of the Hummer EVs, ever.

Since they described him as “young,” there is a third possibility: sheltered and brainwashed and hasn’t yet encountered enough of the real world to see through the lies that have been drilled into his head since before his earliest memories were formed.

It’s an important distinction, because if you treat people in that category the same way you treat people who are knowingly and willfully fascist, then you’re just going to mash their “confirmation bias” button and send them harder to the right.

I’d say if he’s in his early twenties, there’s a good chance it has more to do with “ignorance” rather than “malice.” And ignorance, unlike malice, is redeemable. But he’s not going to open his eyes if you’re throwing sand in them.
