Historian, veteran and public activist Vladislav Starodubtsev said that on October 18 in Lviv he was beaten in front of a lecture on the history of the local left movement. According to him, the attackers demanded to apologize for political views, refuse to host the event and leave the city. The police opened criminal proceedings on the fact of hooliganism.

My post of this article, with additional links and clarifications, just got removed by moderators of this community, idk why. Nobody DMd me, nobody asked to remove specific bit. I guess being a real Ukrainian, translating free software to Ukrainian, and participating in Ukrainian politics as a Ukrainian citizen is a bannable offense in fedi channel about Ukraine now. Unfollowing this community, thank you very much.

You were not banned. The reason for the article removal is in the modlog, but I will explain it here for you:

As you well know, Ukraine is in a war for its existence. A war this community unashamedly wants them to win. To that end, attacks on the government, particularly unsubstantiated ones, are perceived as a potential attack vector by the enemy and their sycophants and will get removed. Depending on the context further moderation may be required. I do not believe that is necessary here because the emotion appears genuine.

That said, unfortunately, it is my experience that direct communication is 90% a waste of time. I removed your post and reposted the article with a more neutral tone to reduce divisiveness. You are more than welcome to stay and contribute here so long as you take my reposting of your article as a guideline for your future content. Additionally, once Ukraine is victorious and Martial Law is no longer in effect, this community will ease the restrictions placed on communications. Until then thank you for your understanding.

      Slava Ukraini

I am not my government. I will not self-censor criticism of their inaction against the far right while they fake progressivism on paper and speeches to get Western applause. I voted in the presidential elections, and it’s my president to criticize, in English if necessary to counter the state-sponsored narratives prepared for Western audiences. I follow anarcho-syndicalist and democratic socialist ideas and principles, and will not tone down my statements while the people wanting me and my comrades dead boost theirs up to eleven. I will call out specific politicians and organization that do harm, and it’s especially important during the Russian invasion not to let their accountability slip by a single inch. Ukrainians suffer from both the Russian invasion and the local politicians. To anyone who tone-polices me for politically “incorrect” things about Zelenskyi, Biletskyi, Klychko and others in power, please think whether you support the Ukrainians or the politicians - you really can’t do both; if you think you can, you’re likely knee deep into campism, just from a supposedly progressive angle. The war will continue for many more years, and the justice for human rights abuses can’t be delayed for some abstract point in the future.

Thanks for the modlog mention though, I forgot about this feature. PieFed UI might be better if the reason from modlog showed near the deletion sign. What I saw was basically, I refresh the tab and my post that I spent an hour writing just disappears.
