Just The Greens doing Greens things and completely bottling their new direction pitch under Shoebridge. I guess they still have a bit of time before the next election to build, but it’s probably fair to say anyone who wasn’t already a Greens voter has already checked out again. They are unfairly held to a higher standard by the media and the public, but they should know this by now.

This is being dealt with under Shoebridge while it was possibly known under di natale, bandt and waters. That isn’t a bad thing for Shoebridge’s leadership.

His bigger problem is that we aren’t going to forget the Ukraine comments. He needs to address that as it is a line in the sand for a lot of people.

It’s hard to know much flak is deserved here without knowing what the allegations are, or anything more than vague hints about whether they have substance.

At this point in time it should be more “watch this space” rather than “how could he do something like that!?”

Interesting that this is coming out now, when party leadership and impetus seems to be strong, as you point to, after what appears to be have been long-known. I am glad he’s taken leave and I hope we get clarity for everyone’s sake.

It is a positive imo, that it is a man who is the party leader at present, when Steele-John has been outed. If it were a woman, there’d probably be rumblings of gender culture wars.

EDIT: I hope this gives Shoebridge a chance to show that under his watch everyone in the Greens will be held to account. A lot of sexist toxicity has been well-known to happen in parliament house among people with different levels of power and position.

Man in power not treat ~50% of the population with contempt challenge: difficulty impossible.

Culture’s broken. The dude should have been thrown under the bus years ago. Imagine being friends with a sexist.

I like the Greens and usually preference them very high. I’m a big fan of like a good 90% of their policy.

I cannot STAND their vetting of candidates at the state or federal level.

Is there a party that does that better?

The problem with most politicians, is that they are the type of person who wants to be a politician.

If these complaints had any substance they would surely have been referred to police.
