Why not just cut them down and shred them?
something with the contract. worse was flock would send guys out to debag them and the college had to send guys to rebag them. I was listening to a radio piece interviewing an administrator and they were saying it went on for awhile and was a whole cat and mouse game.
My town cut power to them and click went in and reconnected it because they hadn’t been explicitly told to fuck off.
They know they’re enough of a target that people are destroying them all the time.
But that was on town property. I would think the college should be able to have flock employees trespassed if it was a constant thing.
campuses are pretty open spaces. I hope they don’t go the way of highschools.
It’s certainly not ideal, but this isn’t someone sitting on a bench or walking through or even wasting time in the student union.
A lesson to read the damn contract, I guess.
Why, because getting caught would be illegal, of course. ☝🏼
It’s flock. Just tell them to go fuck themselves and to sue you. Then when you’re required to pay, do what Alex Jones did.
Then sue them.
Fuck it, put a bounty on what flock does. Start setting precedence.
I’d certainly be down to sign onto a class action. Hell, it should be a whole working class effort, ftm.
But - they’re on College land and the contract has been terminated.
I don’t disagree with the sentiment, but it’s like how you can’t trash someone’s car because they parked it somewhere and left it. It needs to be removed either by Flock or by the city, which probably doesn’t want the cost/hassle of it if waiting for Flock to do it fixes the problem.
So then there shouldn’t be any issue with rendering them inoperable, right? Bag the solar units, put the Flock Sock on the cameras. If you can’t legally take them down, just prevent them from working.
If you’d bother to read the article, that’s what the college did. They covered the cameras in trash bags. Someone showed up and removed the bags.
They still track Bluetooth.
Wrap them in tin foil to make a Farraday cage?
I read somewhere that a focused/localized emp effect isn’t that complicated to DIY, but I’m just some rando online. Could be nothing, frankly, and certainly don’t use a VPN and a hardened browser to do any follow-up research to ascertain veracity and edify yourself, as is tradition. 🧏🏼♂️
That’s like actually illegal though.
Only as illegal as unowned cameras, especially in residential areas, AFAIK. 🤷🏼♂️ Besides, I presume it’s up to the wielder/maker to align said gadget’s scope to affect only the target location, not beyond. 🧏🏼♂️
It sounds like that’s what they’re doing, right?
so either you remove them and let Flock reimburse the work or you can use the assets to cover the costs. – Is what common sense says, your laws might be more nonsensical.
College campuses flag bicycles at the end of the semester for removal. If they gave Flock notice and resonable accommodations to remove their equipment then Flock fails to, it could be considered abandoned.
I wonder if the college can then sue for illegal surveillance
I’m sure they will.
There aren’t enough laywers in the world to save Flock from bankruptcy, in when their shit catches up with them.
Bankruptcy? No. The admin wants to bring back public executions, so flock’s little pig boy ceo could have a different solution.
Good point. The stakes do seem to be raising on highly public behaviors. It’s not a social norm I would support if I were a billionaire. I’m surprised not to see billionaires put a stop to it.
