I love tuvix. I didn’t really have a problem with tuvok but y’know, Vulcan. FUCK Neelix. He was an insufferable piece of shit for so long. He eventually got a little better but not enough to redeem his character.
Tuvix was the perfect blend of both; the two extremes tempered each other out. He was intelligent without being robotic, cheerful instead of being a crackhead, good at cooking and security, and willing to contribute to make up for the “loss” of two crewmembers due to his creation. Now obviously you can’t just kill off two core cast members so he was always going go away, but it was a very interesting trolley problem that Janeway dealt with, probably correctly. Factoring in my personal preference? I’d vent them both out of an airlock just to get rid of neelix.
I don’t think the community hates Tuvix. He keeps coming up because they won’t let Janeway’s questionable order for his destruction be forgotten.

Tuvix specifically indicated that he did not want to die. He was a new individual life.
