I caught GodlessCommie admitting they aren’t from the US even though they post exclusively US politics content. They literally replied to me “Democrats are Republicans”. They are trying to convince people not to vote so that the fascists keep control after the election.

TiL that Texas is a foreign country.

You do live in fascist america, and you support that fascism. So the comment is true.

I’m glad that calls out GodlessCommie’s behavior as counter to the cause. Their argumentation is… legendarily bad. If one were trying to use an internet forum advance the march of fascism from within the Left, it would look like GodlessCommie’s actions.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck… good thing we didn’t step in it. :D

Edit: clarify my sentiments in the first sentence

        On this we completely agree.

My comment was regarding a person who behaves like a COINTELPRO asset. The person in question is divisive, argues in bad faith, resorts to logical fallacies, and actively works against winning people over to progressive and social causes.

Would you care to address the substance of my comment?

        • Ah okay cool, I misunderstood the substance of your comment. I suspect godlesscommie is simply not great at effective communication in those regards, but I do also suspect they enjoy the drama (and I assume that’s why they’re on .world). Admittedly, I enjoy it myself- I find those threads to be highly entertaining

A number of the .ml usual suspects are training accounts for social media information warfare, I’m convinced. They probably do have a single handler, but I suspect trainees are also given control of the account to practice master debation before they are moved over to reddit and Facebook for assignment. They really aren’t even subtle about it.

Don’t get me wrong, there are still plenty of useful idiots as well, but part of the training is how to inject talking points and herd people towards them. You can watch this play out in most right wing spaces on the internet - relative silence on the news cycle for 12 hours or so after some controversial story drops, and then the prolific posters all start organizing around a specific narrative at the same time, with the useful idiots falling in line soon after. In that intermediate time, discussing the story in those spaces will get you banned, even if you are kind of orbiting the same narrative which will eventually become canon, because they always want to be herding people into a single voice.

that makes sense, since if they tried it on those platforms, funny enough thier anti-spam, bot filters would ban them pretty fast. since they dont like you spamming as soon as a account is created.

Every election season I assume correctly that the major political communities get inundated if not co-opted by these types of bad faith actors

this is not an implication, it is an inference. you attribute to malice what can easily be explained by mere incompetence. “you live in a fascist country” does not suggest they dont also live in the same country. it seems compatible with the submitted exchange for example, that they’re rather saying they have lived in other countries without fascism so they have something to compare it to; they’ve seen the forest from far away and aren’t missing it for all the trees.

it’s still goading and arrogant and presumptuous, but the ‘there’ in the title isn’t there.

I’ve never even lived in another country, but I know that the US is fascist and that the OP supports that fascism, although they believe that they are the good guy

I know it’s very subjective, but based on repeated interactions I felt justified in making that conclusion. Everyone can make their own judgements.

Its (not) nice to see that name again. I blocked the Lemmy.ML instance but it is good to point out new users that instances such as this one are sophisticated propaganda meant to discourage voting, disingenuous arguments of both sides being the same. You’ll notice they never blame the right wing (who is currently in power). The point being, they don’t want right wing candidates losing ANY election.

They’ll grasp at straws or post some obscure “news” sites with obvious bias if you browse around the sites they post and if all else fails they will suggest you vote third party. As if that ever works and wouldn’t split the vote. Need I remind everyone rfk jr was running third party but they realized he would only split the vote from trump.

The main late stage capitalism sublemmy is on .world, it even says that at the top.

      “GodlessCommie” is a .world user.

As much of a jackass as that guy is, a lot of people who aren’t from the US weigh in on US politics and I think that’s fair enough. Unfortunately, US elections have a massively outsized impact on people all over the world compared to any other countries elections, and the people that will be affected deserve to have their voices heard. Of course, it’s also important for a person to be honest about not being from the US.

It hurts the average American when they hear sentiments that dont agree. The fairness doctrine wasnt stripped away for nothing!
