I had a friend who would take really long to respond to my texts and I would have sent like three times the content because I would pour out my unfiltered thoughts a lot. They would only reply to the one topic they wanted to talk about. At first it made me feel a little nervous that they didn’t want to hear about some stuff and weren’t reacting to it, but they explained they were fine with it. So, I was basically given the go ahead by someone to say just whatever I was thinking. So whenever they did reply and I heard the notification sound they had found whatever I said interesting enough for them to want to start a conversation about it with me.
Do people actually enjoy receiving discord messages or being notified? I won’t deny the sound has conditioned me, but it’s my fight or flight response that’s being triggered.
I started using discord to organize workers into unionizing. I got conditioned to see discord messages as a sign that some corporate bullshit just happened
Based
anyone I don’t want to get messages from I just block so it makes a notification mean good things
When I first used discord in 2016, my life was falling apart and I was still having unprocessed grief. I have been conditioned to hear that noise to expect some self-hating demon is gonna ruin my week.
I have everything mute. But ICQ sound still triggers ptsd
I just block whoever i don’t like and if a scammer sends me a scam link, it means i can destroy their site or database, so I just see notifies as positive
There’s a special place in hell for youtubers who use this sound in their videos.
When it’s in a song it’s truly cancer…
