It was all happening at Bunnings Epping today: face painting, free pizza from some display outdoor pizza oven, giving away lollies, and a couple of brands had reps at stalls talking to people

Ted Cat really really wanted to go out.

Cat Logic. He sees the rain out the window but maybe it fine outside the door.

I open the back door to the little yard, ( it’s safe, he can’t get out the yard without a huge effort ) rain blew in got him on his nose and he ran away without getting anywhere close to outside.

So I’m a bit of an idjut.

Over the rona restrictions I was ‘stuck’ down the beach for a fair while. When I got back the shower wasn’t working… whole lotta things happened and just never got around to working out what was wrong and was just using the shower in the back shed instead. Didn’t really bother me, nice shower although only 3-4mins of hot water which was enough.

Finally dawned on me yesterday that maybe the shower head was gummed up and maybe it’s not that serious (don’t need a plumber etc.). Took it off, put it in cleaning vinegar for a day, and now as of this morning it works perfectly.

So I’ve been doing half naked barefoot outside winter dashes across wet lawn riddled with bindii for 3 - 4 years when i didn’t have to👍

A garden ornament I’ve got fell over! It’s a white faux marble lady holding up a flattish bowl thing with a plant on it. The plant ended up on the ground but the right way up with not a crumb of dirt spilled 😅

I’m so very much enjoying watching Angelina Jolie’s kids start the process of changing their names lol how embarrassing to be such a scum dad that all your kids don’t want your name anymore. Chud Pitt can go kick rocks, it’s what he deserves lol

    I’m working on my writing.

    Behold, the Ikea nightmare.

[Day 213] “Corey asked me if I liked the same lamp she asked me about at least 50 times so far. I said I thought it looked great. Her response? “mmm nah it doesn’t go with the couch.”

Those words now burned into my very soul.

I no longer recognise myself in this moderately priced mirror whose name I can’t pronounce.

I see the withdrawn, hopeless faces of other men, trapped in this labyrinth of cheap modular furniture carrying bundles of tealight candles.

    We don’t even use them.

What did we do to deserve this fluorescent hellscape?

What collective sin did we commit that we are doomed to wander listlessly, aimlessly, in this purgatory. Our opinions requested, yet also ignored?

I beseech her to stop so we can get something to eat, only to hear: “we’re almost done”. Oh how I yearn to believe that.

I whisper a quiet prayer, begging for salvation from this recursive nightmare of indecision.

What great act of reparation must we enact to escape with our lives and minds intact?

I keep my spirits alive, knowing that GTA 6 is coming out soon, and looks fucking sick.

May God have mercy on our souls"

It’s the process, not the result that’s happening here. Dreams are all you get for free. Mind you, IKEA would not be my first pick for dreamfood. It’s just better than Myer store windows cos you can touch it, hold it, carry the number to the register before deciding not to purchase. Actually buying something is always going to be an anticlimax.

Consider it as a rite of passage - a sacred/sanctified practice run for actual home ownership that may never happen. You are not the priest here, but your presence is required as a witness/acolyte. Next time, I suggest suitable ceremonial garments should be worn by all participants. Musical accompaniment (including trumpets) and lots and lots of banners and incense would be choice but might get you both banned from the shop. Mission accomplished.

PS something similar happens with display homes. But that’s getting into the really heavy duty religion territory in this culture.

(yes I know this is response is not about the writing)
