I hate when people say “never give up”.

It’s okay to give up. Just give up for the right reasons for you. It’s okay to give up because it’s too time consuming, or it’s too expensive, or it’s not fun enough, or it’s too fun.

It’s your life and if you don’t want to keep doing something, you don’t have to.

My sister was physically unable to breastfeed (it runs in the family) and a lot of people told her she wasn’t trying hard enough. So they would have preferred her keep trying the physically impossible and letting the baby go hungry instead of just giving him formula?

Yeah, the species does better when people never give up because the species can afford to have many wasted lives in return for the advances that can come from the ones that don’t fail. It’s a little different for individuals, who, for all we know, have only the one life and maybe don’t want to spend it trying to suck a bit less at guitar.

Though I would say to give things a fair chance because the first step of being great at something you love is almost always kinda sucking at something you aren’t sure about. But I’m trying to find a healthy medium between making sure she tries things but isn’t stuck doing them until she burns out with my daughter.
