As an insult absolutely, in some interpretations surely.

In every reasonable interpretation. If god exists and is sufficiently powerful, every death is his choice. If god is not powerful enough for us to know he is there, we don’t assume he is.

Theism is unreasonable. It’s a form of magical thinking.

In the christian bible, which I’ll remind you most christians consider to be important, he explicitly demands human sacrifice and commits murders and genocides.

No, I never got that vibe from any of them. I have heard people claim it though but then used the bible to see how clearly that is not the case. I don’t think those people read the same version.

    It’s explicit.

What was that John 3:16 verse again?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

    Romans 5:

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

    Zephaniah 3:

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

    1 John 3:

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

    Psalm 86:

But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

Laughable, considering god’s behavior in the old testament. But the book says it’s love, and the book says it’s true, so stupid people like my parents believe.

    Deuteronomy 7:

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations

We get a twofer in Ephesians 2:

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ

    And in Jeremiah 31:

The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.

    Etc.

No, because there is no a singular book that is the entire bible, biblical literature as a collection i can believe though but dont know much about asian literature to compare.

It’s the one called “the christian bible”.

No because they cant even agree wich text is and is not the bible. They never did

You forgot the research I cited before.

A majority of U.S. Christians say the Bible is extremely important or very important in their lives

    https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2025/02/26/importance-of-religion-and-the-bible/

I acknowledge that it also says:

The vast majority of members of historically Black Protestant denominations, evangelical Protestants, and Latter-day Saints say the Bible is extremely or very important in their lives. Fewer than half of mainline Protestants and Catholics say this.

But those protestants and catholics are factually wrong, the bible is the basis for many of their beliefs.

This is one of my points: even if YOU don’t think the bible is very important in your life, someone else does, and their actions as a result are impacting your life every day.

Of course. Thats why critical thinking skills are so important.

I agree, which is partly why I find it so frustrating to talk to you. You seem capable, but your blind spots are huge and you reject reality. You pretend it’s more moral to tolerate willful ignorance than to correct it.

For some that may be the case but agnostic beliefs don’t always work that way.

Lol. Please think about it. Agnostic beliefs still drive choices, it’s ridiculous to claim otherwise.

Do you know any person at all who is completely mindless, no brain, yet still makes choices? I don’t. I don’t see how it’s possible. Our brains process our experiences into beliefs which, combined with other aspects of our biology, result in conscious or subconscious decisions and physical actions.

What do you think prompts human beings to act, if not their beliefs?

Just because it says so does not mean you have to believe it.

Sorry for repeating myself but taking a christian text literally is still very much a Protestant cult thing.

The people who told you its supposed to be literal are lying or mentally living in the dark ages.

They got that idea from the bible itself.

In my case, it was evangelicals. But the fact remains that every abrahamic faith is a death cult, including christianity.

I already told you i am no fan of protestants, i am not defending them.

Pressuring your believes onto others and getting angry when they don’t is pretty bad. No matter what the believes entail.

Teach people to think critically and let them form opinions of their own.

I have referenced the following a coulle of time, i still believe that on principle you approve of it. But that the terminology keeps blinding you.

Post-theism is the belief that religions related to, or focus on the worship of a God or deitiesbelongs to a previous stage of human development and, thus, a division of theism vs. atheism is obsolete. It is a variant of nontheism. The term appears in liberal Christianity and post-Christianity.

Pressuring your believes onto others and getting angry when they don’t is pretty bad. No matter what the believes entail.

            Surely you don’t believe that.

Example: you see a grown adult taking advantage of a young person in a heinous manner.

That should make you angry enough to intervene.

Now bring it to the conversational level. You chat with someone who reveals they love taking advantage of young people. Do you try to change their minds? Do you get angry when they deny or dismiss the harm they are doing? I do, because I am a human being with empathy.

Teach people to think critically and let them form opinions of their own.

That’s what I’m trying to do, but you’re still denying that christianity is a death cult.

Post-theism is the belief that religions related to, or focus on the worship of a God or deitiesbelongs to a previous stage of human development and, thus, a division of theism vs. atheism is obsolete. It is a variant of nontheism. The term appears in liberal Christianity and post-Christianity.

But we still have more traditional christians, most of whom believe in god. We still have theists. We still have the concept of “god”, ill-defined as it is, necessitating “atheism” as the position of one who does not believe in any god.

a division of theism vs. atheism is obsolete

I wish. Many theists won’t shut up about their imaginary friend, and they pretend I’m wrong and deserving of punishment for not accepting their baseless claims.
