    Okay, but

Consider the work of Old Testament scholar James K. Hoffmeier, which has been embraced by the Center for Immigration Studies, an organization devoted to reducing immigration across the board.

In Hoffmeier’s view, the duty to not oppress “strangers” (“ger”) found in Leviticus 19:33 does not apply unless a person already has gained legal approval to be within a nation’s borders. That “legal status” had to be obtained “from the appropriate authority in that particular culture” or else he or she remained a “foreigner” (“nekhar” or “zar”).

The problem with Biblical (and Rabbinical) scholarship is that people argue over this shit extensively and ad nauseum. Hell, the Talmud is just an extended historical account of these arguments (often highly pedantic and endlessly nuanced, turning on interpretations of definitions of terms used in historical observations).

You can come at a modern policy argument waving the Bible and find a dozen other people from every side of the debate doing the same.

yea, everyone who practices starts at where they are, and forces christianity to conform to their wants. its how we get supply side jesus.

this “jesus said to love thy neighbor REALLY means only the ones who are permitted to be there by the majorities ethnic cleansing. but i don’t bother checking, and just assume that the only ones that count as my neighbors are the same as me “ is frankly blasphemous. not that i care as i don’t practice. but i feel that if jesus died for our sins, its bad taste to use him as a sacrificial lamb to protect the feelings of bigots, and nazis. if people want to be bigots and nazis they should just say so and stop using jesus as a shield.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not.

Legal or not, treat people with decency. I was going to look up jeff sessions, but your link says it all. Use the Bible, twist words if you have to, to hurt your neighbor.

Legal or not, treat people with decency.

Probably the most controversial suggestion within Christendom, going back to its Jewish roots. Do you treat people with dignity if they aren’t a part of your clan? The various religious texts could not be more at odds with one another on this issue.
