I gotta ask though because I’ve seen it before here and I’ve always been curious: why the “m.” redirect?
The iPhone was released 19 years ago, and one of its headlining features was that you could browse the full-fat Internet, and weren’t limited to mobile sites (often preceded by “m.”). Android came out after, and IIRC had the exact same feature. I think you could use mobile sites on Android or iOS, but you could also use the full site, and some sites would detect a phone and redirect you.
Browsers used to not redirect at all on the computer, and it was annoying when someone posted an “m.” link because it would force you to the mobile site. But, I just tried it on Safari and Firefox (both on macOS) and both redirected to the full site.
So what I gotta ask and what I’m curious about is what adding “m.” to the address accomplishes in 2026? Are there really still people using Java browsers on old flip phones on the Fediverse?
i cant use the youtube app for sharing links anymore as it will ask whoever clicks the link if they want to recieve direct messages from my account, instead of actually just going to the video. i use firefox on my phone for links now
They’re still not off the hook for that shit they pulled releasing that album you couldn’t delete on itunes. Just because it was free doesn’t mean anybody should have had to listen to that crap.
They made it so you could delete it shortly after.
IIRC no one was actually forced to listen to it. It just took up an inconsequential (but non-zero) amount of space. For Apple that might have been egregious, but millions of people opt for Android phones, which have non-removable apps like Facebook, Amazon, Candy Crush, etc. that they never use.
