Just got my 2nd Inguinal hernia operation. Nothing much else to do but walk frequently (god I miss my dog so much) and the rest of the time taking it easy with an e reader. (and finally some time to look at openhab)
I’ve got a consult for my first inguinal hernia surgery coming up. Any advice?
I’ve now had both versions: Open in march and Laparoscopy just 2 days ago. In a day I walked around normal, and that’s my pitfall … taking it slow. I’m not good at that.
The choice is mostly based on severity. If I stood up, the left side bulged out quite a lot so it had to be done open. Rightside wasn’t visible (yet) and so it was Laparoscopy which is a lot easier on your body. Although … the pain in my shoulders (The dioxide gas they blow in searches a way out) was very intense but lasted less than a day. The pain after open surgery lasts for days.
ffs do it laparoscopically, not open. That’s my two cents. Probably dated advice but yeah, recovery from open sucked. Whereas I’ve heard it’s no big deal for the other.
Nice. I had a consult for open and they said I had a pulled groin so they advised I fix that first. I learned about laparoscopy after and had my doctor book a referral for a 2nd opinion.
Do they catch whoever pulled it?
laparoscopically, not open
In Europe that’s the way they always do it unless there is a good reason for open surgery. One side I needed a lot of stitching before reinforcing and that could only be done ‘open’
