Yeah, that’s a lot. That’s often the case with handmade stuff. I knit, and if I include the cost of labor in addition to yarn, a shawl would be at least $300-400. Not many people are willing to pay that.

Certainly. But for those the price is a feature, it’s part (or even all) of the appeal for the people that buy them.
The problem is that the materials and skilled labor hours need to make sense.
If someone spends weeks designing and then building/creating it, that weeks amount of labor.Probably even calculating with minimum wage it will run really high.
