one of my earliest crushes was a girl i met on the local park district swim team. it was one summer in middleschool and we hung out at a few swim meets. for those who dont know how those work you basically sit around, snack, and socialize waiting for your event, then swim as hard as you can for a minute or two, then go back to socializing. theres lots of time for bonding and its summer so everyone just hangs out in their swimsuit.

i just remember wanting to be around her and look at her and talk to her and she was cool with me being around and included me. she was so cute and warm and easy to be around. if i had known what i was feeling back then i would have asked her out for sure, but silly innocent prepubescent me didnt know what to do with girls at all. i learned later that she had had a crush on me that summer too, but only several years later when her feelings had cooled. weirdly it never hurt to learn id missed my shot with her. it was just nice knowing she had felt the connection between us back then too.

i still think about her and how i felt back then sometimes. im glad i got to be there with her and i hope shes doing ok. i would still give it a shot with her.

Had a classmate in elementary school who had a crush on me that I tried to reciprocate. She was Hindu, and she was extremely kind and honestly just a blast being around.

I hung out with her at her place after she invited me over since we lived in the same apartment complex, we spent some time with her family, and we started sharing lunch together.

We stopped since she transferred schools, and she eventually moved after the fact.

IRL, her name was Jamie, she had glasses and was super smart and pretty. I even wrote a letter and everything that I absolutely did not deliver, hah.

Famous, earliest I can remember is Kate Winslet in that emerald green dress at the Oscars in 1998.

Her name was Amy and she lived up the street from me. I thought she was so cool and always felt really lucky that she called me her friend. I didn’t realize I crushed on her until much later in life tbh haha

Oh, Compassionate Buddha yes, Kate Bush! I came to her late, but definitely fell in love with her! (My realization I was bi/pan came with Joan Jett’s first appearance on German television. I’m pretty sure she made a million German women realize they were lesbian or bi that night…)

I had a really good friend in middle school who told me they had a crush on someone else, and I realized I had feelings when I felt sad about that. We were both music nerds and pretty inseparable at school. During summer vacation, we’d have these slumber parties where we played Pokemon and Maplestory together. We both realized we were bi around the same time, so it was nice to have another person to confide in about that, but we were only ever friends, and that was okay as I got over my crush pretty quick after realizing it wasn’t reciprocated.

We eventually fell out of touch after high school and I found out a decade later she transitioned too, which wasn’t at all surprising. Sometimes I wonder if I’m actually bi, because the only “boy” who isn’t a fictional character I ever had romantic feelings for was a girl the entire time lol. But I still remember those days and hope life’s treating her okay.
