Kinda sorta copy/pasted question from Reddit. But wanted to see what your answers are like on here!

    I use that as a cyclist, but it only feels appropriate when the closing speed is high and/or the person in front is unaware and there’s a risk of a collision. If the situation is more like a semi-truck trying to pass another uphill, I think a little more verbosity is warranted.

      Yeah I picked it up from cycling, but my standard advice as to how a man can come off non-threatening is for him to signal his presence (so it’s clear he doesn’t think he’s hiding) and to signal some form of lack of threat. Expressing intent to pass is a lack of threat, especially combined with giving a wide berth
