Downclicks are a valid form of engagement. They convey very specific emotions of the downclicker to the content creator. These could be dissatisfaction, anger, hunger, what have you. For the most part, they are much more valuable than upclicks. Upclicks are easy.
Weaponization of downlicks, like is shown in this here abuse report, drastically devalue other user’s downclicks.

I’m still not seeing it, but that may be me because I don’t see votes as having an inherit value when compared to a algorithm based feed.
They can cause psychological damage too.
