- cereal made by Kellog then packed with sugar post ww2 due to huge sugar surplus then sold directly to kids and convinced everyone that it was good for you somehow. The Vietnamese eat Pho for breakfast which is why they won the Vietnam war.
- The low fat craze convincing everyone that unsaturated fats are bad and putting sweetners in everything
- dairy industry convincing everyone to drink milk even though adults dont need milk and large portions of the population are lack toes intolerant
- the food pyramid that put wheat and corn into everything and continues to do so making my coeliac ass life very difficult
- italian food isn’t even real
- contemporary protein craze to sell cheese creating waste product and probably combat vegans by making raw meat eaters filled with worms
Any others im missing?
Everyone here already knows about MSG so I don’t have to tell you that any health effects are just racism.
Breakfast in general is a scam. If you’re a breakfast eater thats fine but if you’re not, also fine. “The most important meal of the day” it is not and frankly 3 square meals a day in America is at least double the calories that a normal person should be consuming.
The Vietnamese eat Pho for breakfast which is why they won the Vietnam war.
Hmm. I never eat breakfast because I “hate breakfast” but maybe I just hate western breakfast foods. I don’t really want soggy wheat or corn dissolving in milk as my first meal of the day, but a nice savoury soup actually sounds like the ideal thing to eat when you first wake up. This epiphany might just end up changing my life. Or maybe I’ll be too tired tomorrow morning to remember.
Bacon is an op. And not just the craze of the late 2000s, which was an astroturfed viral marketing campaign. Even the very notion of Bacon being a staple breakfast food was an ad campaign in the 1920s that caught fire.
Holy fuck I went to look and didn’t even get to any mention of bacon before I got to this:
His best-known campaigns include a 1929 effort to promote female smoking by branding cigarettes as feminist “Torches of Freedom”, and his work for the United Fruit Company in the 1950s, connected with the CIA-orchestrated overthrow of the democratically elected Guatemalan government in 1954. Bernays’ involvement in Guatemala facilitated US imperialism and contributed to decades of civil unrest and repression, raising ethical concerns about his role in undermining democratic governance.
Maybe associating it with breakfast needed a push but i don’t think most people needed propaganda to want to eat that’s basically smoked meat candy
- What if we made celiac disease fashionable and convinced people that gluten is unhealthy for everyone
- Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! That’s why you get sugary bullshit foods and white bread
- Meat is for men, vegetables are for women
contemporary protein craze to sell cheese creating waste product and probably combat vegans by making raw meat eaters filled with worms
At the store today I saw protein bread, protein chips, and protein yogurt. Apparently the ideal form is to be a walking, swollen bicep
Making sweeteners and artificial flavorings from corn is literally a biochemical psyop.
We should be more tolerant of people who lack toes.
italian food isn’t even real
wrong, it is, but it was invented by tourist agencies in the 70s
I’m just gonna go ahead and say it, they did a good thing for once
the weird “seed oils are the source of all evil” shit that’s been astroturfed since that one dude went on a joe rogan podcast
So many food crazes come down to the belief that there is a singular substance that makes food ‘good’ or ‘healthy’ and that the best diet is one that maximizes consumption of that one substance.
I feel like 60% of the candy aisle in the super market is the result of a campaign in the 1940s by the meat industry to to find a use for the last bit of the pig that wasnt used for anything else. What even is jello?
-Washing eggs and keeping them refrigerated -Tossing anything that has spent more than two minutes outside of a heat lamp or fridge -Completely arbitrary and made up expiration dates
Soy having estrogen in it, that’s why “soy boy” is an insult and soyjaks are a thing
Meanwhile in America they pump cows full of all sorts of hormones so beef and dairy has extra estrogen in it.
Dairy cows also only produce milk after giving birth, when estrogen levels are just naturally high.
That’s also why children are reaching puberty at 10 years.
lack toes intolerant
Ableist foot fetishists, smdh my head
Okay I have some time so I’m gonna toss some in:
- Electrolytes
- Agave Nectar / Coconut Sugar / Honey
- E621 (By extension E= Bad, in general, always.)
- Quinoa Superfoods
- “Cage-Free” (There’s no strict legal definition in what that even means in a lot of places)
- Fruit Juice is healthy
- “Locally produced” (When it’s repackaged.)
Oh and recently they seem to have pivoted from electrolytes to Vitamin and “High fiber” drinks as their latest push.
I think the next push might be a Soylent 2.0
you think electrolytes are a psyop?
“Locally produced” is usually just a way for the petty bourgeois farmers to greenwash their exploitation of migrant labourers ime
