Seriously though, if Smith feels it becomes necessary to request political asylum in France (or some other non-extraditing country) for the duration of the regime’s reign (hopefully, only a couple years from now, but honestly who fucking knows), I would not blame him at all. In fact, I’d call it a shrewd and pragmatic move.
He could even work for he ICC in The Hague in the interim - perhaps even cataloguing, preparing cases for, and eventually prosecuting the lurid and inhumane war crimes and crimes against humanity that the regime is committing.
