“In a word, yikes. Yikes is the word,” said CNN’s chief data analyst.
So the thing that low-key infuriates me about stories like this is the implicit assumption that he cares about approval numbers anymore. Because if they’re able to complete the execution of their playbook and significantly impact, adulterate, or otherwise influence the results of elections, public opinion no longer matters, since orangeboi can simply declare “lol I won”.
The core issue that people should be talking about is independence and freedom and fairness of our elections, which the regime is very actively and enthusiastically chipping away at. And nobody seems to be willing to acknowledge that it’s all happening right the fuck in front of us.
He doesn’t care but the demsocs do and they’re getting repub vote. Maybe that vote would be the extra help that puts them over the line here or there.
No argument on the oligarchy’s plans to dismantle democracy. That’s a present threat that works against all that.
What the fuck are you talking about Jesse?
Mamdani got some repub vote. The (class) issues demsoc (DSA) runs on are broadly popular beyond the Democrat voters. There’s a lot of demand fot medicare for all from republican voters for example. As more of them get disillusioned with the cult, some are likely to vote for the DSA rep running in an election near them. I don’t think republicans would turn out for DSA candidates en-masse but with the razor-thin margins some elections are won by, it could matter.
No, thats all great but seems like it would only matter in fair, unrigged elections…
I mean if the elections are rigged outright, sure. If they’re rigged as in, heavily tilted, it would help.
