Each camera and pole costs approximately $3,000 to replace.

    Easy solution: don’t replace.

buddy if a badly programmed android device on a pole costs 3 large, someone is skimming 2500 bucks a pop.

Police believe the thefts occurred between July 29 and Aug. 1. Each camera and pole costs approximately $3,000 to replace.

Who’s going to pay that? Because I’ve been told these constant surveillance devices don’t need warrants because they’re not owned by the government.

I saw some shit the other day that suggested people doing this aren’t activists because they attempt to evade police instead of being arrested because getting arrested is the point, citing examples like Rosa Parks who purposely got arrested for an unjust law they broke.

Destroying ALPRs isn’t a act of resistance toward an unjust law; it’s an act of resistance against the system and we’re not trying to make destruction of property legal. What exactly would be the point of purposely being arrested for destroying these? Especially in todays world where we can film it being done and post it online. You don’t need to get arrested just to get some PR.

What a nonsense view of activism. “The Underground Railroad weren’t activists because they tried to not get arrested while they were smuggling enslaved people to freedom.”
