A new drone was shot down Saturday morning by a Romanian F-16 pilot, President Nicușor Dan announced. The drone was intercepted near the town of Sfântu Gheorghe, close to the border with Ukraine. This is the second such incident in two consecutive days, after the same pilot shot down a drone that had entered Romanian airspace over Buzău County on Friday. “This morning at 8:30 a.m., another drone was shot down in Romanian airspace, 10 km west of the town of Sfântu Gheorghe (Delta). The drone was shot down by a Romanian pilot flying an F-16,” Nicușor Dan wrote Saturday morning in a Facebook post.
Is there a reason it doesn’t say where the drones were from?
Probably because it is not confirmed yet? The first drone was definitively confirmed to be a Russian Shahed, the second drone I’m not sure an announcement has been made yet (It was only shot down a few hours ago.)
I don’t think it requires a genius to guess, but it’s not really the job of news to promulgate guesses as facts. Not outside the US, anyway.
