Another fun fact about those two movies: they were animated by a Japanese studio called Topcraft. Topcraft would later animate another movie called Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and shortly after was renamed Studio Ghibli after a change in ownership.

That’s awesome, the Ghibli aesthetic has always reminded me of the old Hobbit but I had no idea they were from some of the same people!

HARD disagree. Jackson’s orij trij is a modern masterpiece, and the 1980 animated one is…well, it’s something, I guess.
It needs more Leonard Nimoy.
