Edit: For context, @db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com discovered that the developer of Tesseract had discretely banned numerous instances and disguised it as a server error. This included more heavily leftist instances, but also blahaj.zone. More recently, it was discovered that they had also been suppressing individual users, phrases, and communities that criticize power tripping on fedi.
Needless to say, I implore non blahaj.zone users to drop the Tesseract client (support for the client has already been dropped for blahaj). So called “liberals” like this who call out “extremism on both sides” are an insult to the values they claim to be upholding.

Why are people like this? This person once helped me out (kinda) for a comment rendering thing for my own client (I was unfamiliar with nested comments and how they worked with the API). It’s so sad and frustrating to see people you had non zero respect for do something so shitty like this. Like… especially for a group of people SO FUCKING CORNERED ACROSS THE WORLD. What’s the thought process behind this? So so shitty.
I seriously can’t find a thought process behind this. This is such a weird thing to do.
I think they have a grudge against Ada for being too friendly with leftist instances, and/or find the vibe too unsightly in some way. Maybe we’re too weird in ways he doesn’t like, or maybe we’re too anarchist adjacent (a lot of people on this side of lemmy are anarchists, as queer people have every reason to dislike and distrust most governments right now). Regardless, we’re too controversial of a vibe for their view a “non-toxic” fediverse.
The idea of a non-toxic fediverse is so silly. Yeah there should be a variety of experiences within it, but the whole thing about federation is that it enables us to find places that align with us.
I’m still on .world because they haven’t pissed me off enough to bother changing and they were the main ones defederated from exploding heads when I signed up. I’d probably go blahaj if I were to change these days. But like, the ability to change and to go to an instance that aligns with your beliefs in who it’s on speaking terms with is the point.
Banning blahaj and db0 won’t make the fediverse respectable, and it’s something an instance or user should do, not a moderation tool
The ability for humans to do bad is equal to their ability to do good. And we all do both. The best you can hope for is that they do at least slightly more good than bad over their lifetime.
There is no thought process. That’s the problem.
I gave up trying to understand bigotry. It’s just senseless.
