Recently got into Catherine Cookson. Her novels are set in the industrial north east of England from the mid 1800s to mid 1900s, and they’re all about poor working class people struggling to survive while battling the upper classes, dealing with racism and misogyny, trying to avoid the workhouse and similar issues.
