They really are violent. Long ago I was at a nature preserve with my then-girlfriend and she was enamored with these racoons. The ranger who was there then proceeded to tell us the reason one has a messed up ear is that they fight all the time and injure each other severely, occasionally killing one another. Also I had an experience myself once with a raccoon practically charge me which was insane… Yeah they’re not to be underestimated.
