I know reddit is worse than its ever been and has always been astroturfed but once in a great while I still stare into the abyss and let me tell you… 
The fact that they’re all saying the coast guard too, like is this the new recruiting tactic? sell the one that has less of a murder-y reputation, then when they can’t get into that they just go with whatever they qualify for?

I don’t think so honestly. I’ve met a lot of guys who did like 5-15 years in the military and then exploited the system to get a bunch of disability benefits they didn’t need and then got out and just coasted around doing part time work and enjoying their hobbies. These guys are always very vocal about how you should join the military and it’s a great decision and it’ll fix your life.
Yeah met a guy in my class who kept taking grad school just cuz the military would pay for it.
Fair point. I appreciate the perspective, since I haven’t met those types as far as I know (I’ve met vets but they generally had very different attitudes from that).
