It’s really interesting. The rhetoric of liberalism is like 80-90% just leftism. Freedom, democracy, equality, justice, treating people kindly, etc. They straight up teach it to you in schools. The seeds are there. The problem is that it lacks class analysis and hides or twists the ways in which liberalism doesn’t actually do any of that stuff. So people end up believing that the countries which actively stand in the way of these principles are actually the ones upholding them. It takes a lot of evidence to show people that the bad things we’ve done aren’t just isolated incidents, but part of a pattern that naturally arises from the system.
Some liberals are just misinformed leftists who could be turned with education. Some are just right wingers who are embarrassed by open right wingers.
We can work with the former, not so much the latter.
The problem is it takes a while to figure out which is which.
This,
most liberals are just hatchling leftists

The problem is not taking the time to figure it out is letting conservatives win.
100% agree. It’s still something we need to at least try, it’s just hard and understandable why it can frustrate people.
