…how many of you will stay? Personally, I wiped my Reddit history and deleted my account, so I’m definitely here to stay. I can see, however, that a number of people see Lemmy more as a distraction until the blackout is over. I wonder what that number would be.
I became a Redditor during the Digg exodus… Now I’ll become a Lemming during the Reddit exodus.
You probably just started something with the Lemming thing.
We definitely have to stop calling communities subreddits though.
Kbin calls them magazines
meh, not my favorite
Sublemmy? Slemmy?
What about calling them “communities”?
Too many syllables
I’ve been using sublem
I joined up in '06 but officially committed during the Digg Migration. Lemmy was been a much welcome refresher to the old days of Reddit.
Same my dude. I wasn’t sure about this at first, but I have 2 12 year old accounts and am thinking of seeing if I can cash in on them somehow.
Wiped and deleted. I’m putting down roots.
Deleted my accounts and all post/comment history as well. I’m fully Lemmy only now.
Now that I’ve managed to hook up Mastadon to here and pull tweets from twitter, I think i’m pretty firmly here rather than there. There’s one community I’ll be sad to not interact with on the regular, but I’ll manage.
Wait… Can you log in here with a mastodon account? I knew you could reply to comments and follow from mastodon, but the experience is pretty clunky.
can’t log on from mastodon to here, but you can do that other thing.
Ah fair, so it’s the way I thought. Shame, it would be a great feature (not sure if it’s possible to implement though).
In the short term I’ll probably still be on both, but in the long run I am probably not going to stick around on reddit with the progressively shitty decisions being made.
Lemmy is promising, and I’m here to stay. I haven’t nuked my account on Reddit yet. But as others have said, I don’t plan on posting much there anymore. Unfortunately, I’m going to be slightly tethered to wherever the smaller, more niche communities that I like end up.
I’ll stay. I’ve been looking for a reason to move off reddit for a long time. But there didn’t seem to be a non political based exodus, until now. The TD stuff and voat seemed too political charged and only people of a certain political leaning left. As a result voat and the others were just all about American politics. This feels much more across the board, and so far I’m loving the Lemmy community.
I’m definitely staying. I know there’s gonna be a dip in users, I just hope enough stay that we can build communities.
I’m here for good. Yes it will take some time to get the lay of the land but, I’m already confident this will become a much better home for me.
I’m intending to stay, barring poking in and seein if there’s any extra niche communities that could fit at home here (there’s a good few cat ones), I wiped my accounts and am currently waiting on a data request export. Once I can get that then I’m wiping my accounts and not turning back.
I’m in the same boat as you, account deleted and all. Personally, I was never really that active on Reddit but I’ve enjoyed Lemmy and the positive community feel. So for me, I won’t be going back since I actually enjoy using this platform. My only fear is that others will jump back to Reddit eventually and these communities may go quiet. I guess we’ll see.
Yeah my biggest fear over the last two days has been that people will just hop back over to Reddit again. I’ve been secretly kind of hoping Reddit doesn’t reverse the API changes just so more people will stay here. I honestly do like Lemmy more than I’ve ever liked Reddit. Trying to keep engagement high is why over the last two days I’ve commented more on Lemmy than I have on my 10+ year old Reddit account.
I think I know exactly how you’re feeling, It’s pretty similar to my experience tbh. Again, I’m the same, I think I only ever made two posts on Reddit and a handful of comments in the five years I had an account. Whereas I’ve probably already matched that output here in the few days. Perhaps that’s why I’ve been enjoying Lemmy as much as I have?
Honestly, I think I’d be content if enough people stayed here (or joined over time) to help this become recognised by the mainstream as a genuine Reddit alternative.
I am done with Reddit and have deleted my account. Even if I don’t cause an impact as a single person, I am happy that u/spez has lost a user.
I like Lemmy. I think I’ll stay here, and I’ll wipe my Reddit account soon. It feels strange, but Reddit also feels super hostile now.
You’re not the only person I’ve seen saying that - it might be because all the nice people have stayed away during the blackout leaving the toxic sludge to rise to the top in their absence…
the sludge has been dominating for a while, reddit hasnt been cool for a while imo, just a lot of habitual hanging out
i was honestly looking for a reason to leave. i dont care about deleting accounts but if i comment ill be here as long as i keep getting replies
wait, how can we wipe our post history?
Power Delete Suite is one way.
There are tools out there, I’m using a script for Tampermonkey whose name is escaping me right now.
Staying for sure, I really like it here.
