As much as I’m sure this person isn’t conscious of this, many “socialists” in NA currently are middle-class people with aggrieved entitlement. They typically imagine change as a series of welfare liberal social programs that will restore white, middle-class standards of living to post-New Deal conditions (the irony of their opposition to MAGA lost on them).
When there is such a prominence of terms like “oligarchy” and “billionaire class” in these purportedly socialist discourses, you know that they don’t fundamentally view class as a primary vector for material inequity, just that there are classes of people that made their position in that hierarchy less favourable. They’ll betray the rest of us first chance they get.
