Bonus points if the demo has a benchmark! Today I tested out the FFXI Vanadiel benchmark, ARMA 2, and Lost Planet. The game that ran the worst out of the trio was ARMA, forcing me to play it at low-normal graphics presets.

I remember I got this tech demo/trailer for the original far cry. I think it was just a real time cut scene so your computer actually ran it instead of being a video. I only know that because the computer I ran it on was shitting itself the whole time
Vampire Survivors should work fine, but there’s no demo. It’s like $3 on sale most of the time, though.
Seconding what dead said; you should also be able to emulate everything up until the PS2/original Xbox without issues.
Aaaaand Minecraft Java Edition might run on it; it runs like ass on most everything anyway.
Civ 4! Half life 2! If you can run arma 2 on low, you can probably manage the orange box too (portal, half life 2 episodes).

Private server classic wow, it was made to run on pretty much any computer of the mid 00’s and the private servers are free. I recently started on ChromieCraft and have been having fun with it.
Will consider it. I did play wow back during the burning crusade on live, but it never really grabbed me like Everquest did before that.
Chromie is on WotLK, which was my peak wow, and arguably peak wow in general.
They’re also very proud that their server software is open source, which is neat.

Chromie had an influx after Turtlewow got 86’d by Blizzard’s legal team but I assume it’s still hovering around 1k~ players which makes it hard to do stuff as a new / solo player.
https://capycraft.io/ already spun up clones of Twow and launched a fresh server a month ago, you do have to access it through a VPN outside of the U.S. and have to do a little bit of tinkering to get it to work because it’s a native Chinese client.
I’ve been getting instant to a few minutes queue time on dungeon finder as a dps during the day and instant as a tank pretty much any time. It’s still not nearly as big as twow was, but it’s growing pretty fast at this point.
Play around with some higher graphic settings on Arma 2, maybe it runs better. Odd quirk of the engine that if you run everything on low it offloads more stuff onto the CPU and your GPU might not even be fully utilized
Arma 2 runs like pure shit on HD Intel Graphics lol, try playing Arma: Cold War Crisis/Operation Flashpoint or Arma: Armed Assault.
Emulate console games. PS2/Xbox/Gamecube should run pretty well. Wii has pretty similar specs to Gamecube but required a motion controller. I’m not sure about PS3/X360. Any usb controller should work with an emulator.
I do plan on running some emulation tests eventually, the only problem with this laptop is it’s got 1 usb 2.0, 1 3.0 and type c ports, and my xbox pad is usb and those two slots are being occupied by a kb and mouse.
USB can be split with a USB hub. Or universal laptop docking stations use the USB C port. Or there is a t480s specific laptop dock. USB 3.0 hub is $10. USB-c dock is $20-$50.

If you can swing it, even a cheap USB C dock (with HDMI) will be worth it over a hub, since you could just plug into a TV for a second/primary monitor and sit back with a controller too.

unreal tournament 99 and UT2K4 are both free now and there’s fuckloads of mods out there for both, that site also has the original unreal and a demo for unreal 2
if it turns out that your computer can handle xbox games i also highly highly recommend unreal championship 2

the impression games city builders would run fine. zeus+poseidon, caesar (3 has a modern qol patcher/launcher in julius and a fan rework of mechanics via augustus) pharoh + cleopatra. they arnt free but theyve had gog releases so pirating is painless
