Visiting London for a few days, and noticed a lot of half-mast flags: red cross on a white background (reminiscent of some crusaders, Templars?) any symbolism behind them being shredded? Its a lot of them, must have cost a ton of money…

This is Guardian-tier brain rot.
Inclusive nationalism? Fucking hell. Flags went up all over schemes in Scotland at the same time. It’s maddening how the England flag upsets you.
So why were they put up by drunken idiots and not the council?
If they were drunk when these flags were put up, that’d be quite the accomplishment. Scaling a ladder or operating a cherry picked when inebreited is quite the skill.
This stereotype is tired, much like dismissing people as idiots when they clearly aren’t.
The council should have put them up in the interest of health and safety.
Yeah I never said they weren’t lucky drunken idiots did I. Anyway for all I know they did fall off the ladder, I wasn’t really inclined to go down and talk to them, as they were not exactly open to the suggestion that perhaps sticking timu flags, upside down, on every single lamp post in the town was a good idea.
If they really cared about their country why don’t they go and sort them out now they are a tattered mess? For that matter why didn’t they put them up professionally, all the way at the top of the lamp post, and with appropriate attachment cable so that they can bring it back down again when it inevitably needs maintenance. That’s why the council don’t put up flags because it’s a massive investment in cost to no benefit, and we’re not Americans so we don’t need to weave the flag around all of the time in order to feel big.
An upside down England flag is the same inverted? Not sure what your point is now. Friday beers?
All councils in the future will have our glorious flags flying in front of them, schools, hospitals, HMRC offices, everywherr funded by taxpayers. I wouldn’t put Americans in the flagshagger court - the UK and Europe are generally exceptions not flying flags.
