The defense secretary’s decision to block the officers’ promotions appears driven by his anti-woke stance rather than based on merit.
To be clear “woke” in this case means “able to compete on equal footing with white men”
I read the first part of this headline and totally thought he’d hit a woman. Seems pretty much on brand for him.
