If my car had that function, I would turn it off.

Either quit being a pussy and open fire, or leave me the hell alone.

CB traffic can be entertaining at times. Especially the trucker drama near bigger cities. I used to have a CB in my car. One time near Chicago, this guy is hogging a channel for like 20 minutes, ranting about the impending “apocalypse” or something like that. Finally someone else seizes a brief moment of dead air, “Buddy, if God were merciful, he would end the world right now so we wouldn’t all be stuck listening to your stupid ass.”

      Made me laugh a little.

Yeah I often find instead of a CB radio they have a Lemmy account. Maybe it’s the lack of algorithm but schizoposts are amazing on here

And only the nut jobs, at least the last few times I tried it. It has been quite a few years at this point though.

And even if you don’t have that experience, truck drivers are mostly right wing, so you are still going to have to listen to insane conspiracy theories and uninformed political theory.

My dad had like a 1994 F250 long box - the kind that had the two fuel tanks. Anyway he had a CB radio on it and me and brother used to channel surf and swear at truckers and call false may days.

        Lol.

      They still exist.

      People still use them.

But there’s definitely not the same level of culture around them that there used to be.

I keep wanting to get one of those LED striped you can’t type into and have it across my back windshield.

That way I send messages to other drivers like…

    • Semis in the far left lane

    • People obviously on their phone

    • The person in the passing lane getting passed by literally everyone

      Counterpoint:

The people “being passed by literally everyone” have deemed it’s not safe to move over. Therefore it’s “everyone’s” fault for not letting them have the space to pull over.

Being an ignoramus is not “deeming it’s not safe”. Stick to whichever side is for lorries and dumbasses on the phone in your country.

Let me guess: everyone who inconveniences you in any way how ever slight is an “ignoramus” and a “dumbass”?

Guess what. If they’re not being allowed over- then they can’t. Get. Over.

Without arguing the right or wrong of them being over there, that’s irrelevant to simple logic that even my 8yo nephew can figure out, and in that moment, being a dick only exacerbated the problem.

Not really, you just sound like you want to make me look silly to justify people’s inability. Driving is not for everyone, just like everything else. There are other options - use them. Or, worst case, quit forcing dangerous situation on everyone around you and stick to the slow lane.

It sounds more likely to me that a single driver spaced out and forgot to leave the passing lane than all the others making a switch of lanes impossible. I mean, obviously it can happen too, but whenever I am in such a situation, the slow driver in the passing lane is just not taking the opportunities to switch. If they want to, they are to use their indicators and I am sure another person would let them in soon enough.
