Elections are not the defining trait of democracies. Technically they are not even a requirement. This is why plenty of autocracies can actually have a ton of elections.

I agree, but again. Elections are not even technically required. There are democratic decision making structures that don’t rely on election of representatives or voting. Specially on direct democracies, it’s but one of the many ways to ensure the prevalence of democratic values.

          Oh, we’ll have elections.

They are just trying to decide how convincing they can get away with making it look like a free and fair election without letting it actually be free and fair.

Putin for example has decided that 88% support is “close enough” to a free and fair election… for now.

Frankly, the continuing inaction to do nothing at all to even admonish the administration for openly corrupt behavior turning everything into a personal benefit for trump is depressing even if someone implemented ‘other methods’.

As bad as Trump is, it’s more worrying that no one is even vaguely willing to go along with ousting him. The handful of GOP that was even vaguely on the fence has been ousted at this point. Since the supreme court has ruled that openly politically aligned and outright racist districting is ok, and challenges about each state’s districting are only ever valid if the challenge would strike down a democrat plan…

Feign some more incivility. Odd that MAGA goons always have a problem with the smallest, most inconsequential things (like calling you weird), yet have no issue overlooking the same when it’s someone they agree with. If your identity is so entwined with a single politician that modified names cause discomfort, maybe it’s time for some self-reflection.

This justice department is very incompetent. The only political prosecution they ever got to a trial I can remember is the guy who threw a sandwich at one of their thugs, and the jury threw that shit out.

Everything else has been dismissed because this is the worst bunch of lawyers to ever lawyer.

2 years ago, career attorneys with decades of experience would drop everything to get a job in the justice department because it was so prestigious. Now they’re having trouble recruiting kids straight out of law school graduating at the bottom of their class.

And federal judges are DONE with these clowns. It’s not just a presumption of innocence for the defendant. The justices’s default assumptions are increasingly that the justice department is actively lying.

Remember all the assholes in the Tone Police from the “liberal media”, as well as all the reactionary centrists, as well as a few self-styled online leftist revolutionary types were all spending lots of time and energy wagging their fucking fingers at Biden pardoning his family?

Just because Trump is a shit doesn’t mean Biden should be allowed to be. This is the problem with the democrats, they figure as long as they are a hair better than fascists they should be respected. Hunter is a peice of shit crackhead who made a career lobbying for foriegn interests based on his connection to his daddy. 2 in 10 Americans supported Bidens decision to unconditionally pardon his idiot of a son. The problem here is that the pardon exists at all. There should be checks and balances against it being abused.

We all know that Pumpkinhead would have gone full lawfare on everyone in Biden’s family otherwise. And for a big nothingburger. He was a crackhead? He sold paintings based on his name recognition?

Meanwhile, Pumpkinhead pardoned terrorists so that some of them could go on to commit more crimes - like molesting children.

Don’t compare the two things; it’s patently ridiculous. Biden only had to do this because he knows just what a vindictive asshole Pumpkinhead is and so very butthurt that he LOST to Biden.
