A while back, I started moving on from all sorts of closed source platforms, whether degoogling or whatever. One of those apps happens to be reddit, I’m a firm believer in FOSS (Free Open Source Software), yet, it’s fairly clear that the knowledge of most people, let alone 95% of Egyptians is little to none. I still use reddit without an account, for now, use to have an account back in the day and I created r/EgyDog, only to leave it completely unmoderated when I decided to delete my account for good, seems to be thriving so I’m glad for that. I was wondering, why doesn’t someone knowledgable create an in-depth post all about privacy and how Reddit is very far from anonymous, and your posts and info can very easily be traced back to you, like how for some reason Telegram is considered super safe when it’s anything but, especially with Matrix, Signal, and SimpleX Chat available. I don’t wanna call these people stupid, on the contrary, they’re uneducated. I was hoping someone can educate them, before someone says why don’t I do it myself, cause I dont got the patience to make an account and wait days to gain karma then make a super in depth post to be honest.

Thing is, Lemmy IS catchy, sure pixelfed, and peertube, not as much, Peertube is shit really and Pixelfed needs ALOT more users. Mastadon, on the fence about, but def a great alt for twitter overrall as u can just follow unofficial bot accounts and get the same feed u normally do. NOW LEMMY Lemmy really really does a great job of being the proper reddit, it just takes the first learning curve of what the hell is the fediverse or an instance, “wdym decenteralised??? Hell you sayin boy?”, but all you need to know is
Download an app (Thunder personally)
Sign up at lemmy.world
Enjoy
It’s reddit 2.0, it isnt hard if you just ignore the noise and follow the steps
Oh I love this side of the net. I’m not as active as I once was but I was a heavy commenter early on after the API disaster to get momentum going. We’re still small but have to reached a point where I no longer feel the need.
I meant a catchy way to attract users. More nerds and privacy conscious people like us will continue to trickle in slowly with the occasional wave.
Are you talking Lemmy in general or the Egypt community?
In general. I browse all.
Great. Only response I get isnt even from someone that has anything to do with my specific topic, the irony huh
