Need to complain. I tried to call my doctor’s office and it was impossible to speak to a person. The AI kept telling me over and over that they care about my pronouns. I don’t care about my pronouns, I just wanted to speak to a person. It’s Seattle idk what I expected

First off, I’m really sorry about your relative and I hope you’re doing well. That’s terrible. Secondly, that isn’t something that can be purely blamed on an automated system. There were people at multiple steps who could have made that stop happening and just didn’t.

I have a funny one. In med school I had a patient with a BMI of 6,000+ and as most probably know 30+ is obese. As a med student I didn’t have the power to change the chart, and I had to go find the charge nurse, which was a struggle in and of itself, and then get her to change it. It took like an hour of my time and her like 15 minutes because she didn’t know how. Someone had entered their height as 5.6 inches instead of 5’6" and we struggled with that. I could have been learning that whole time. We need quality support staff so badly.

Pro strat I use is to begin to stay coherent stuff like I need the. Start stating random words. Like I need potato ostrich. Talk to car house. Ect. After a few times the ai slop gives up and connects you to a person.

    Edit… cellphone autocorrect

Makes me think how human speech would change overtime both by trying to counteract AI learning from us by using garbled speech. And optimised to try and squeeze out what we want from it the quickest.

I tried to get a person by saying PERSON REPRESENTATIVE and then all the curse words because in the past that made them get you a person sooner but nah. I’m sure I sounded insane and if the recording ever comes out I’ll have a really hard time arguing that I’m not actually homicidal. Oops

Reminds me of that guy on twitch made a tts robot and through the process began to make an algorithm to remove slurs or curse words. Can’t remember the video but he did a devlog on YouTube about it. It’s hilarious.

Behind every decision to replace staff with yet another LLM is endless frustration for customers and clients.

I had an urgent leak to deal with earlier this week, and when I called my rental agency they told me they couldn’t do anything until I’d logged it in their online system. I logged it in detail with photos, then it took me to an LLM. When I told the LLM I wasn’t interested in further chatter and just needed a plumber sent over ASAP, I got a text saying my request wouldn’t be dealt with because I “did not complete the conversation with [their] agent.” All the while my light bulbs were dripping… I felt like I was taking crazy pills.

I was laminating a leaflet for the government department I work for the other day, and it had very carefully noted the pronouns for the department. That just seems silly to me.

Assuming they were in brackets after people’s names, why is that silly? It’s just so you know how to address them.

I think what they’re saying is on leaflet, the department had pronouns listed, like “Department of Sanitation (they/them)”

Ah, that is indeed what they wrote but that interpretation didn’t even cross my mind! That is hilariously bad lmao. Thanks
