A longtime friend suggested I try #audiobooks from my local #library, then I discovered #Libby in my app store. Free audiobooks!!! I downloaded Hidden Figures tonight, to enjoy tomorrow.
My recommendation is to play the sample of the book before you check it out or purchase it — not to see if you like the story, but to see if you like the narrator. A bad narrator ruins an audiobook.
If there’s a narrator you particularly like, there’s usually a way to tap on their name to see what other titles they’ve done.
Great advice! Thank you. I will look into that.
Libby is the best!
I am really enjoying Libby! Who doesn’t love getting entertainment for free, especially books in any form. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you 💗
Hmm 🤔 what genres do you like? I mostly listen to horror but my favorites from other genres:
- This Is How You Lose the Time War - a short romance between two feuding agents in the “time war”
- The Lies of Locke Lamora - a group of con artists do shenanigans in a fantasy world (the narrator is really good, they do the accents!)
- Beartown - my favorite by Backman, a small town deals with the aftermath of actions done by the hero of the hockey team (look up content warnings if you need more details, but it deals with the subject matter well)
I like all kinds of books, except horror (sorry!) Just about any kind of fiction, and many nonfiction subjects as well. I guess I like story lines based on historical events, because right now I have these two on hold on Libby:
I love the sound of the titles you have recommended! I’ll look them up tomorrow. Thank you!
Hidden Figures is a great book! I enjoyed the movie, but the book (unsurprisingly) is much better. The history is better represented in the book too.
Check to see if your public library has Hoopla as well. Lots of great audiobooks on there too.
I went straight to my app store to find Hoopla! Wow! Thank you for that tip! Much appreciated ☺️
