When he praises Endo and wishes him luck, he really only means it in trying to look gracious and also, Endo winning the tournament after he beat him would unofficial confer him as the best player in the world Marty acts like a complete entitled asshole to everyone in his life, you expect him to be a sociopath, like he’s not fully human, he’s beyond morality, more like a wild animal. but actually all the harm he causes was by a mundane guy who had the full capacity for empathy and self control as anyone else, which gets hinted at through the film, but the final be scene is the final damning reveal.
