It was about the leadup and culmination of Tet Mau Than uprising of 1968 (Tet Offensive) in Vietnam-US war, via the Biet Dong Saigon units, and Tet coincides with Lunisolar Chinese New Year.
Tet is the same thing as Lunar new year. That’s why the vietcong attacked during it, nobody was expecting it and everyone was expecting a truce. The ARVN soldiers were pissed as all their leave was cancelled.
Huh… not exactly the same, but more like CNY with Vietnamese characteristics, I know the Chinese brought it down there.
