I always feel really wierd, class wise…
Like…I’m not super poor. Obviously I have internet, a house, electronics, and I don’t have to work part time to afford college (with scholarships)
But…sometimes I feel really poor too. But I can never tell what poor I am. Like, I have a friend who is transferring and he was talking about how his parents will be paying A TON more in tuition than i am.
And ive talked about it before where last year I felt really, really ashamed about my mom not having an important job like everyone else in the class (She works as a laborer while everyone else had parents who worked as lawyers or dentists or upper managers, etc.) And like…logically I shouldn’t, i know that. I don’t think anyone else cared either, but for some reason having to say that just made me feel really ashamed for some reason.
I think I just feel like I don’t fit in either world. I’m too “artsy” (for lack of a better term) and effeminate and privileged to really feel working class, but too limited and stressed to feel super privileged either.
I’m not asking for a ton of sympathy, i just wanted to get these thoughts out, because my emotions are involuntary so i wanna know why I have them
I feel this too sometimes but it’s important to remember that the idea of working class being exclusively manual, blue collar workers is a very intentionally created image created by people who are not working class
I’m so looking forward to March Madness…this silly, ridiculous basketball tournament makes me feel like a kid in the best ways. Watching these intense finishes and upsets with my friends, driving to the games in college, watching these 20 year olds have this sudden and fleeting moment of fame.
It’s extremely exploitative, especially before NIL. And the whole thing rakes in millions of gambling dollars every year… but it reminds me of childhoods greatest moments
Is it just me, or are error messages commoner on Lemmygrad than they used to be?

hello everyone. tankiethedeprogram ACP mod drama is actually so insane. on a minor level considering everything but like, what’s going on… if this is seriously some sort of psyop (which i dont like to accuse liberally bc it takes away from honestly evaluating how many ppl organically come into shitty beliefs, absolutely not saying that psyops do not happen on a far broader scale than most people imagine) that’s like. fucking crazy

Update on the r/TankieTheDeprogram drama: The ACP mods have been kicked out! Their offensive didn’t even last 24 hours against the Tankies. We are yet to hear from the head mod u/Alexitine about this failed infiltration attempt.

ETA: the reason why i stumbled there was bc it was first page result when i was looking for data on how many people watched nayirah testimony aside from wikipedia (later referred to wikipedia’s citation instead since i couldn’t find much) and there was a site that looked fairly obscure and small. click and it’s talking about israel… okay… weird about it, but sometimes people who have fair critiques of israel are also antisemitic and weird (which is wrong, but usually their factual content on israel is right, so even if you categorically disagree; sometimes theyll CONTAIN things that are factual and of value) so i read their article on nayirah testimony. hey this language is weird. go to About. trheres a statue. im like oh no. neoclassical aesthetics. proceed to read most heinous thing ever.
trying to read on nayirah testimony and my two options are “cultural marxism and jewry are evil pollutants” and democracy now hard “uyghur genocide is real” agenda. yes the factual contents for both on the nayirah testimony are right but their frameworks are sooooooooo stupid (i mean demnow is better than blogspot that has 10 likes, one of which has SS logo profile picture, but)

Just want to say that I’m really stoked there’s genuine community and activity both here and across lemmygrad / lemmy. It’s been harder and harder to swallow my disgust using reddit and feeding the machine just to keep in touch with the world. Thank you for the work you’ve put into this space, comrades.
I recently found this place/lemmygrad and I am so glad that I did. I had recently gotten banned from what I thought was a leftist forum for questioning the propaganda against DPRK and was honestly kinda lost for a while before this place. I’ve not posted before (until this one) but it’s been vital for having me informed on the state of the world without being influenced by imperialistic bias.

welcome! excited to meet other relative newcomers or those who arent too well versed in political ideology/ml as of yet, makesme feel less alone. while i was able to deprogram from stuff about prc and dprk few years back, the stuff on this site about ukraine/nato war has been really illuminating, as well as the thread on iran.
